2003 Year End Statement

The Hamilton-Wenham Cultural Council awarded slightly more than $4,000 in state funds for the year 2004 to local artists and performers in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences.  The ten-member Council strives to select events that will enrich and appeal to all sectors of the community.  There were 19 applications for grants this year.  Whole or partial funding was given to 11, a sampling of which follows:

*A Theatrical Performance by and with local students of "The Hobbit."
*Concert performance by "Tres:" North Shore Baroque Ensemble.
*Sundays in Patton Park.
*Student trip to MFA.
*"Native American Heroes" preformed at MRMS.
*Performance at HWRHS of "Sweet Honey in the Rock."
*Two performances at HWRL for summer programs.

Residents of Hamilton and Wenham with an interest in the arts may want to consider applying for a position on the Council.  Council members serve three-year terms and are appointed by the Board of Selectmen.  There are positions open on the Board for this coming year.
