Hamiltonma.gov Terms of Use
Mission:
To provide residents and visitors to the Town of Hamilton website (www.hamiltonma.gov) with online access to government departments, services, and programs. From time to time, the Town may provide information or links of interest about community events, festivals or local news, which in the Town’s sole discretion, are deemed to be in furtherance of the Town of Hamilton purposes.
This policy applies to all non-library Web sites maintained by the Town of Hamilton.
By using the Hamiltonma.gov portal, you agree to these terms and conditions.
Town of Hamilton Purposes:
Providing a central location, maintained and updated by the Town of Hamilton, where users can view information on Town services and events.
Providing information about Town by-laws, regulations, payment of taxes and other Town data.
Providing a posting of public meetings and hearings.
Providing information about the availability of services to residents by linking to entities that have contracted with the Town to provide such services or provide such services to residents without charge.
Providing information about the organizations in which the Town maintains a membership.
Providing information concerning Town or community cultural and historical resources.
Providing information about neighboring local government and recognized news agencies providing coverage of local news.
Providing information about federal and state government pertinent to the Town.
Policy Regarding Links to Outside Sources:
Links to outside resources are provided to further Town of Hamilton purposes and not as a benefit to the linking party. The Town of Hamilton is not responsible for and accepts no liability for the content or availability of these outside links. The Town’s websites and the selection of sites to which any of them may be linked are not intended to serve as a forum for free discussion. There are ample facilities for free expression and discussion on the Internet and in the physical world. These WebPages are posted to serve the Town’s need to make useful and practical information available to Hamilton residents, businesses, and visitors that facilitate provision of a Town service or furthers another specifically articulated purpose of the Town of Hamilton.
Some examples of appropriate content for outside links include information about other government services, community festivals, cultural events, and local news.
Having a Link Posted on Hamiltonma.gov:
If you believe a link to your site from the Town of Hamilton website would further a specifically stated purpose of the Town, but such a link does not currently exist, you may email or write a letter to the Webmaster stating:
1. What purpose of the Town would be furthered by including your link.
2. Where that purpose is stated within this document.
3. How the suggested link would further that purpose.
You will be notified within 30 (thirty) days of your written communication with the Town of Hamilton if your link will be included on the Town of Hamilton website. If you do not receive a written communication from us within 30 (thirty) days you should consider your request denied without prejudice to a later refilling of the request.
No person shall have a right to link to any Town of Hamilton site. The Town of Hamilton reserves the right to remove links at any time at the discretion of the Webmaster without informing the linking party in conformance with this policy.
Maintaining Current Information:
The Town of Hamilton maintains this website to provide the public with access to Town information. This service is continually under development. While every attempt is made to keep the information timely and accurate, there are no guarantees. Every effort will be made to correct errors brought to the Town’s attention. Please e-mail the webmaster with any corrections. When contacting the webmaster please include the Page Title, URL, and date that the error was found.
Copyright:
Most of the written information contained on the Town of Hamilton website is considered public record, and may be copied and used without the consent of the Town. However, any materials copyrighted by the Town, including the design, layout, and other features of Hamiltonma.gov, may not be copied or used for anything outside the “fair use” of the Copyright Act without written permission from the Town of Hamilton. “Fair use” includes activities such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, research, and other related activities. Hamiltonma.gov does make use of materials (including, but not limited to photographs) copyrighted by third parties, which cannot be copied or used for use other than “fair use” without the permission of the copyright owner. If you wish to use any of these items for anything other than “fair use” you must seek permission directly from the copyright owner.
The Town of Hamilton makes no guarantee that the materials contained within Hamiltonma.gov are free from copyright claims, or other restrictions or limitations on free use or display.
