Land-Based Solar on Capped Landfill
The Town of Hamilton is researching the viability of a land-based solar PV array on the site of the Hamilton municipal landfill. A 2011 Fatal Flaw Analysis on the project, conducted in partnership with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), identified the potential for 1.2 MW of solar capacity on the Chebacco Road site. The landfill cap was completed in 2014, making the site available for solar development.
The Town is currently in the process of searching for a consulting partner for further development of the project. The Town will be applying for an Owners Agent Technical Assistance grant through the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources in the Summer of 2015 to pay for the technical consulting work.
