Hamilton’s Master Plan 2024, the town’s primary long range planning document, is now available for review on the Town’s website. Adopted by the Planning Board after a multi-year planning effort which included several opportunities for public input and engagement, the Master Plan is designed to serve as a living document providing “a basis for decision-making regarding the long-term physical development of the municipality.” The plan serves as an advisory document and resource for residents and for all those who serve in municipal government, including the Town’s many volunteer boards and commissions. This planning effort marked the first complete overhaul of Hamilton’s Master Plan in 20 years; Hamilton previously adopted municipal Master Plans in 1965 and 2004.
Hamilton’s Master Plan is structured around three core objectives, including to PROTECT Hamilton’s natural resources, open spaces and recreational amenities, and cultural and historic resources; to PROVIDE high quality community facilities and services and transportation resources for Hamilton residents; and to GROW the community through economic development efforts, housing and residential development, and appropriate land use strategies. The Master Plan also includes an Implementation Matrix to guide implementation of the Plan’s goals and objectives.
