(Scroll gray bar below for full directions) The Building Department has moved. The Offices are now located at 299 Rear Bay Road. In the Red Building attached to the Council of Aging Building. The front door faces the Winthrop School parking lot. (the right side if you are facing the back of the building).

IMPORTANT : For the next few weeks, the Building Department can only accept checks for application payment as we change over to a better payment software to work with on-line permitting. Please mail a check to Building Department, 299 Bay Road, Hamilton MA, 01982, or you may hand deliver the check to the Building Department which is now located at 299 Rear Bay Road. In the Red Building attached to the Council of Aging Building. The front door faces the Winthrop School parking lot. (The right side if you are facing the back of the building/the street). Please make sure you write the property address on the check. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Except for good cause found by the Zoning Board of Appeals after due Notice and a Public Hearing, or except as provided by MGL Chapter 40A, Section 9, if a Decision is not recorded with the Southern Essex Registry of Deeds and/or if construction, or use, under a Special Permit is not substantially commenced within two (2) years of the issuance of said Decision. Excluded from any lapse period is the time required to pursue or await the determination of any appeal taken pursuant to MGL, Chapter 40A, Section 17. Building Permits will not be issued without proof that the Decision from the ZBA or Planning Board has been recorded.
