As of November 1, 2022, mattresses will no longer be allowed in the trash collection.
New state rules require mattresses be kept out of the trash, so they can be recycled or donated for reuse. In order to comply, the Town of Hamilton has changed the way it collects mattresses as of November 1, 2022. Hamilton residents must purchase, by check only, a “Mattress Bulk Sticker” in the amount of $30.00 for each mattress or box spring payable to the Town of Hamilton. Mattress stickers can only be purchased at the Department of Public Works located at Hamilton Town Hall, 577 Bay Road. The program costs and grant opportunities will be reviewed annually.
The Hamilton DPW will provide Casella Waste the listing of addresses that have requested mattress pickup for biweekly collection. Mattress collection will begin on Thursday, November 17, 2022 and continue every other Thursday going forward. Residents not listed with DPW will not have their mattress collected. Please have mattress/box spring curbside by 7:00 a.m.
