As part of the rich history of local governance in the Commonwealth, every town is required to hold at least one meeting annually. In Hamilton, our by-law mandates that the Annual Town Meeting take place on the first Saturday in April each year. This year’s Annual Town Meeting takes place Saturday, April 5, 2025, and begins at 9 A.M. at the Hamilton Wenham Regional High School, 775 Bay Road, South Hamilton. This important event will bring together the voices of Hamilton’s registered voters, who serve as the legislative body of our town.
Town Meeting is an integral part of our community’s decision-making process. It is an open forum where residents gather to discuss and vote on important issues affecting the town. In Hamilton, every registered voter has the opportunity to influence local policies and decisions ensuring that every vote is impactful. The Town Moderator is responsible for overseeing Hamilton’s Annual Town Meeting proceedings. The Moderator ensures that discussions are orderly, addresses questions of procedure, and announces the results of all votes.
