In celebration of National Bike to School Day, Friday, May 9, students, families, and staff from the Hamilton-Wenham school district are invited to participate in a fun and healthy group ride to school. The event will begin at Pingree Park, where students from the three elementary schools will depart at staggered times:
  • Winthrop Elementary School – Departure at 7:15 a.m.
  • Cutler Elementary School – Departure at 7:30 a.m.
  • Buker Elementary School – Departure at 7:45 a.m.

This annual community event promotes physical activity, safe biking habits, and the joy of starting the day on two wheels.

“Last year, this event brought together over 260 children,” said Sean Timmons, Hamilton-Wenham Recreation Director and event organizer. “It’s truly a community effort, and we’re grateful to have the support of so many local organizations and departments who help make it safe and fun for everyone.”

Participants and supporters in past years have included the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District, the Hamilton-Wenham Edfund, the Hamilton and Wenham Police Departments, and the Hamilton and Wenham Fire Departments. Their continued collaboration helps ensure a safe, celebratory experience for all involved.

Important Reminder for Parents: Please make arrangements to pick up your child’s bike at their school at the end of the school day, as return bike transportation is not provided.
The Hamilton Police Department has applied for a grant to provide Hamilton elementary school students with a youth helmet for this event should they need one. Contact Hamilton PD for information.
