A MassDOT repaving project for Route 1A will kick off on Tuesday, May 7, with daily lane closures planned weekdays through June 14.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced plans to implement daily lane closures along Route 1A (Bay Road) between Walnut Road and the Ipswich town line daily Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. from May 7 through June 14.

This project schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change without notice.

The work will include utility structure adjustments, cold in-place recycling, pavement resurfacing, and pavement marking improvements. The work is being done under district-wide maintenance-related contracts with Sealcoating Inc. and D&R General Contracting.

Funding for the project came from additional fiscal 2024 funds to improve pavement conditions statewide. The estimated value of the work is $2.1 million.

Drivers traveling Route 1A in Hamilton from May 7 until June 14 should reduce their speed and use caution. Appropriate signs, law enforcement details, and advanced message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.
