The Hamilton Select Board recognized local resident and Scout, Quintin Appel, with an official proclamation at the Eagle Court of Honor Service on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in honor of his outstanding achievement in earning the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor awarded by the Boy Scouts of America.

A member of Troop 28, Quintin has exemplified leadership, service, and commitment to both Scouting and the Hamilton community. As part of his Eagle Scout Service Project, Quintin led a team of Scouts in designing and constructing a new shed at Buker Elementary School, a project that will serve students, staff, and the greater community for years to come.

Quintin is the 107th Eagle Scout to come from Wenham Troop 28.

“I rebuilt the shed behind Buker Elementary that was blown over in a storm the previous year because it held equipment for maintenance and school projects, said Quintin. “I was happy to volunteer my time to my school district and my community by building something that will support staff and students. The project took 20 volunteers and 174 hours to complete. It was hard work physically and required a lot of planning and organization, but we had fun.”

“The rank of Eagle Scout is a prestigious achievement that represents years of dedication and character,” said Tom Myers, who presented the proclamation on behalf of the Hamilton Select Board at the ceremony. “Quintin’s sense of civic responsibility reflects the very best of our town’ student leaders.”

The proclamation commends Quintin’s perseverance and the positive example he sets for his peers and future generations of Scouts. Distinguished guests also included Peter Clay (Wenham Select Board), State Representative Kristin Kassner, and Bonnie Berkowitz from Senator Bruce E. Tarr’s office.
