Trash Information
Collection Info & Schedule
Each street receives trash collection services on the same day each week. Click here for the collection schedule by street.
All trash bins should be curbside by 7 A.M. on your pick-up day. If trash is put out later than 7 A.M., haulers have no obligation to return to collect that trash.
Hamilton provides every household one 35-gallon black bin that can be used weekly to dispose of trash. The lid should be closed completely with no trash peeking out, and the bin must weigh no-more than 50 lbs. Haulers are instructed to leave bins in violation behind with an orange “rejected” notice.
Any trash in excess of what fits in the black bin must be in a “blue plastic Town of Hamilton bag” available for purchase at Crosby’s Marketplace, Aubuchon Hardware, and the Hamilton Convenience store. There is no limit on the number of blue bags that can be left curbside.
Holiday Schedule
Please note that if there is a holiday during the week, all trash pickup will be delayed by one day.

With the pre-paid sticker attached, one bulky item per-week may be placed curbside for pickup along with your regular trash. No reservation is necessary.

Please note that if your item doesn’t qualify for curbside pickup as a bulky item, you may be able to drop it off at the DPW Yard behind Town Hall on Electronic Waste Day the 3rd Saturday of the month.
Mattress Disposal – Stickers & Scheduling
Mass State rules require mattresses and box springs be kept out of the trash, so they can be recycled or donated for reuse.
Residents must purchase a “Mattress Bulk Sticker” in the amount of $30 for each mattress or box spring through the SPW. Payments should be made by-check and should be made out to the Hamilton DPW. During 2024-25 Town Hall renovations, mattress sticker purchases are by-appointment-only. Please call the DPW at 978-626-5227 or email [email protected] to schedule appointment.
The Hamilton DPW will provide Casella Waste the listing of addresses requesting mattress pick-up for every other Thursday. Please purchase stickers by the Wednesday before, cutoff date will be at Noon. Residents not listed with the DPW will not have their mattress collected.
Electronic Waste/Metal Appliances & Furniture/Misc.
Old electronic items (computers, TVs, printers, etc.), metal appliances and furniture (washer, dryer, barbecue grill, lawnmower, air conditioners, filing cabinets, etc.) and a number of other miscellaneous items (tires) can be disposed of the third Saturday of every month from 8 A.M. to 12 P.M.
