The Town of Hamilton Fire Department has been awarded a $3,715.37 grant as part of the second round of the Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program for Fiscal Year 2025. The funding was announced by Governor Maura T. Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kimberley Driscoll through the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the Department of Fire Services (DFS). This grant will support the purchase of essential safety equipment.
“With each new challenge, the fire service in Massachusetts continues to adapt, overcome, and provide the high-quality services our residents rely on,” said Governor Healey. “We are grateful for the dedication of our local fire departments, and proud to support their efforts with this important funding.” Chief Raymond Brunet expressed gratitude stating, “This funding helps us invest in much-needed safety equipment for our firefighters. We appreciate the continued support from the state and the Department of Fire Services.”
In January 2025, the Hamilton Fire Department received a $15,500 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant in the first round for 3 new fire-resistant uniforms and 1 replacement uniform. The combination of these two grants for 2025 brings the total reimbursement for Hamilton to $19, 215.37 for Firefighter safety equipment.
In 2024, the department was awarded $11K for Fire Safety Equipment.
The grant will be jointly managed by the Town of Hamilton and the Department of Fire Services. Deputy Fire Chief Dan Sullivan will serve as Hamilton’s liaison to DFS, while David Clemons, Director of Operations at DFS, will oversee funding at the state level.
The Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program was established to provide financial assistance to fire departments across the Commonwealth, enabling them to purchase critical equipment for firefighter safety.
