The Town of Hamilton is pleased to announce the appointment of Jane L. Dooley as the new Director of Assessing, effective immediately. With a strong background in municipal assessing, project management, and technology, Dooley brings a wealth of experience to the position and is poised to continue the town’s commitment to accurate and efficient property assessments.
Dooley has been a key member of the Hamilton Assessors Department since 2016. Most recently serving as Assistant Assessor, she has overseen the day-to-day operations including property inspections, Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, and data input to the Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) database system since the departure of former Chief Assessor Todd Laramie in October of last year.
“I am excited to announce the promotion to the role of Director of Assessing,” said Joe Domelowicz, Town Manager. “Promoting from within ensures continuity and stability in our operations. Jane has been a vital part of the Assessing Department for almost a decade now, and she has truly held the fort since the previous Assessor left for a position in Marblehead. She is a great fit to lead the department forward.”
Dooley, a resident of Hamilton, has completed post-graduate studies at Boston University in Marketing and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She has further honed her skills through completing assessor accreditation courses from Massachusetts Department of Revenue (DOR), Massachusetts Association of Assessors Officers (MAAO), and International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO)
“I am excited for the opportunity to serve the community in this new capacity,” said Jane Dooley. “I look forward to continuing my work at the Assessors Department and ensuring property assessments are fair, transparent, and accurate.”
Dooley’s expertise extends beyond municipal assessing. Her previous experience includes providing technical marketing communications support for two Harvard Business School Alumni Associations as a Webmaster Contractor. She has also held marketing roles at Fidelity Investments and Digital Equipment Corporation, where she was recognized for her ability to streamline processes and enhance productivity.
The Assessors Department is responsible for managing property tax records, ensuring accurate parcel ownership, and maintaining map data for proper parcel identification. Dooley’s office is located at the Patton Homestead during Town Hall renovations.
