The Town of Hamilton is proud to share information about a very special event organized by the American Legion Post 194: the 10th Annual Military Service Day at the historic Patton Homestead on Saturday, July 17, 2025.
This family-friendly event brings together veterans, historians, reenactors, and the public for a full day of military history, honor, and community. Held on the former homestead of General George S. Patton and his family, the includes immersive exhibitions and interactive programming. This year marks a decade of community support for Military Service Day.
This year’s Military Service Day is particularly meaningful. It marks:

The 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution (1775–2025),

The birthday of the United States Army, and
-
The final year of the National Commemoration of the Vietnam War, with a warm and heartfelt “Welcome Home and Thank You” to all who served.
The Experience

Opening Ceremony (10:00 AM – 10:30 AM): National Anthem, salutes, and special surprises.

Helicopter Displays: Including Military and State Police rotor aircraft landings (final schedule released 36–24 hours in advance on Facebook at American Legion: Post 194 (Hamilton)).

Live Historic Presentations: Veterans and scholars share stories and insights in our Visitors Tent.

Military Demonstrations: Operational WWII tanks, military vehicles, re-enactors, and memorabilia.

Veteran Services: Resources from state, federal, and nonprofit veteran organizations.

Special Units On-Site: Massachusetts National Guard, State Police K9, Bomb Squad, Water Recovery, and the Boston Park Rangers Mounted Horse Patrol.

Family Fun: Food trucks, kids’ activities, misting tent, and more.
Patton Homestead
Military Service Day also raises public awareness of the long-term sustainability and historic importance of the Patton Homestead—a treasured community landmark gifted to the Town of Hamilton in 2012 by Joanne Holbrook Patton, an Army social services pioneer and devoted supporter of military families.
