About

Hamilton offers a tax work-off abatement program for qualifying residents over the age of 60 to perform work at a rate equal to minimum wage in order to earn credit towards their property tax bill. Under this program, senior residents are allowed to earn up to $1,875.00 in credit which would then be applied to their 3rd quarter property tax bill. As of January 1, 2025, the Massachusetts minimum wage is $17.00 per hour, so an individual would be able to work for approximately 110 hours during the program year of December 1 – November 30. After an application is submitted and a CORI check is completed, the applicant will be advised of possible work options available. Please contact the Council on Aging for the application packet and further information.

Applications are available at the Council on Aging. Applications should be submitted to the Council on Aging and will final approval from the Town Manager’s Office. Applications need to be submitted annually by December 1 to the Council on Aging.
